- The street bet or ‘side bet’ or ‘three bets’ means betting on three numbers by placing your chips on the outside border of three numbers. A winning bet would pay off 11 to 1.
- The four-number bet which involves one of four selected numbers will win. However, the bet must be made in such a way that a square is formed and the chip placed at the intersection where all four numbers meet. The winning bet pays 8 to 1
- The five-number bet, also called “the beast” or “the monster”, is only found in American double-zero wheels and has five numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3. The winning stake is between 6 to 1.
- The line bet, or six numbers, involves placing your chips on the borders of six numbers. The bet pays off at 5 to 1.
Outside proposition bets
There are many ways to make outside bets. They include:
- The column bet involves staking on one of the columns of numbers on the layout. So you place the chip at the bottom of the column you believe will win. The payout is 2 to 1
- The dozen bet is whether one of the dozen numbers on the layout will be hit. These numbers are not a dozen numbers on the wheel, but strictly layout numbers. You can even bet on two dozen and the payout is 2 to 1.
- The red or black bet involves an even-money bet where you can pick a color of the number that will heat.
- The odd or even bet requires placing on either the odd or even regions of the layout to have 18 odd numbers and 18 even numbers. The winning bet is paid even money so it’s one-to-one.
- A high or low bet requires placing a stake on either 1 to 18 or the 19 to 36 section with the payoff as even money (one-to-one).
Know roulette rules
